Stage 1 - Preliminary Trials

  • The preliminary trials are organised and run by BNJCA
  • Clubs are requested to nominate eligible players by the end of December
  • Clubs are to provide details and capabilities of each player on the nomination form
  • Players will be notified of which trial session they are to attend
  • Trial sessions will last for about one and a half hours
  • Costs for the trials include balls, hire of equipment and facilities
  • BNJCA selectors are independent of the players in the age group
  • BNJCA selectors provide a rating for each player for batting and bowling (and keeping where applicable) and keep notes of player performances during the trial
  • The BNJCA Head Selector for each age group will assess all of the selection notes on each player and select players to participate in stage 2 trial games

 

 

Stage 2 - Trial Games

  • Trial games are organised and scheduled by BNJCA for the beginning of the season in October
  • Trial games will be 50 over per side
  • BNJCA will appoint independent coaches where the trial games also operate as a competition (i.e. Reevesie Cup and Ansett La Franz Shield)
  • Cost for these games include balls, umpires (where applicable) and hire of facilities
  • BNJCA selectors are independent of the players in the age group
  • BNJCA selectors keep notes of player performances during these games
  • BNJCA selectors will develop a talent depth chart for each age group
  • BNJCA selectors will select the number of teams required for the age group
  • The BNJCA Head Selector for each age group is responsible for selection decisions.

 

 

Stage 3 - Representative Teams

 

Championship Team

  • Under 13 to Under 15 State Championships (Boys and Girls) are organised and run by Queensland Cricket
  • Under 12 Boys State Championships are organised and run by an association nominated by Queensland Junior Cricket
  • BNJCA will appoint an independent coach for all championship teams
  • BNJCA will appoint a manager and scorer from the parent group
  • The Coach and Manager are responsible for the playing group for the duration of the championships
  • Queensland Cricket are responsible for the selection of players from the Championships for further representative opportunities including state teams and QC Academy groups
  • Costs for the Championships include Accommodation, Meals, Travel, Uniforms, Team Equipment, Team Photos, Balls, Umpires and Facilities

 

Development Team

  • BNJCA send representative teams to development carnivals run by Junior Associations to provide development opportunities for players who were not selected in State Championship teams
  • BNJCA will appoint an independent coach for all Development teams
  • BNJCA will appoint a manager and scorer from the parent group
  • The Coach and Manager are responsible for the playing group for the duration of the Development carnival
  • Costs for the Development Carnivals include Accommodation, Meals, Travel, Uniforms, Team Equipment, Team Photos, Balls, Umpires and Facilities
